Priming the Set

You can prime the administration set manually, or you can prime it with the Alaris® Syringe module. The latter option is available only after the syringe and infusion type have been specified, and prior to beginning an infusion. To prime the set with the Alaris® Syringe module:

1. Remove the pressure sensing disc from the instrument.
2. Press the OPTIONS key.
3. Press the Prime Set with Syringe soft key.
4. While holding the pressure sensing disc firmly between thumb and forefinger, press and hold the PRIME soft key until fluid flows and priming of administration set is complete.
5. Release the PRIME soft key when priming is complete.
6. If necessary, expel any fluid in the pressure sensing disc by gently massaging the membrane with a finger.
7. Press EXIT to return to the main screen.
